i just finished watching "Russia, Land of the Tsars" (wishing i had russian font right about now). very cool program. i think it came out sometime over the summer, but i never got a chance to see it. i want to be a czarina so desperately...
speaking of russia and russian (for lack of better term) 'things', today in orchestra we started rehearsing for the kimmel center concert- aka nothing-but-tchaik 4-this-week. warg. eh, i cant complain. after the beginning of this semester's All American concert i should be thankful. my God that was horrible (with the exception of barber and bernstein). appologies to all of you copeland fans.
i need to get started on this opera paper. its due on friday. icky.

heres the mini update:
summer 2003- the summer of anticipation... you want the whole story, see wes and her sCRAP book
fall semester 2003- eh, not much happened. well there was that whole break down thing... i swear, i really DO love the violin. but dear God get me away from esther boyer school and all of its bullshit.
as for right now, kasey and i have found an apt. for next year. its by the philly art museum (gorgeous) so were happy. my piano quintet and soprano are trying to pull together faure's la bonne chanson.. we'll see how that one goes.

i havent updated in like, a million years, so here i go...
this summer has been so much fun. im teaching some great kids violin lessons and even had a temporary job doing display work at steinmart (yeah, ha ha freakin ha). wes, derek, and i took a kickass trip to savannah, ga to visit megan and george and their roomie, garret. if yall have seen the pictures, i dont have to tell you how much fun it was... oh lordy lordy... i think were going back in august for wes' 21st! yay!
kaseykins is visiting soon! and yes, ive planned out each day down to the hour... sooo much to see and do. i mean, we have to cover the great state of louisiana in a few DAYS! haha. i think were going to hit houston too... we'll see. i mean, i should see mom and dad SOMETIME this summer. :)
well, thats about all the updating i can take. :) hey, i was never good at this stuff.

arg...
so far this week ive had 2 papers and 3.5 hr long rehearsals every night. i think red bull and i have become way too close... ah yes... late night sev-lev trips (yes, sev-lev... i hate aural theory) and sleep?? well, we havent had much of that either. its been hell trying to get up in the mornings! i think were up to hitting the snooze button like, at least 3 times every morning hee hee. :)
something really upset me today. i was talking to someone about where ive lived in the past and indonesia of course came up. i just realized that 10-15 years ago it was completely safe to live there, and now... well, theres no way in hell i would go there. thats depressing. whats happened to this world?? sorry, i got a little too emotional/drama queen-esque... i hate that

im a lucky girl
high of 80 degrees tomorrow! well, here in philly at least (no snide comments from my baton rouge posse! :) i love yall)
unfortunatly, my mozart viola quintet will not be able to perform this semester because a certain viola princess refuses to skip gigs for rehearsals and, more importantly, coachings. arg! but thats ok, because next semester we'll be able to perform the peice maybe in our own recital! (this is, of course, in addition to next fall's ensemble peice... i think she wants us to a viola quintet concert...? we'll see)
i need to go make an appt with health services because this morning i woke up and had the strangest vertigo! i couldnt find my balance for anything! strange... this never happened before. so better to check it out now than during finals and juries and stuff.
off to bed... im getting a GOOD nights sleep tonight! yes indeedy! :)

first of all, id just like to remind everyone about just how dorky kasey and i REALLY ARE. good lord, were such dorks. :)
i didnt get to play my beethoven in studio class today because cong fan was sick, and there was no way in hell i was going to let aunt helen play that piano part.
in opera today we ran through most of stravinky's "mavre" and pucinni's "gianni schicchi". ive never counted so many rests in my entire life! i mean, violin parts (orchestrally and in ensembles) are CONSTANTLY playing, whether its the melody or something purely for effect like tremolo. so this was strange! in the stravinsky we tacet for pretty much the last third of the freakin opera... arg... BORING!
kasum is a new cousin (again!) and a God mother! i cant wait to go home with her for easter so i can see all the new babies! :)

today was the 2nd annual kimmel center concert. while it wasnt as good as last years, it was fun because my parents came to see me! we played stravinky's symphony of psalms, dvorak's te deum, and shostakovich's 5th. it was the end to a crazy week of tests, gigs, rehearsals, etc. i swear, i stayed in black concert dress for like, 72 hrs straight. after the concert, my parents and kasey and i went to the bistro for din din. but im about to pass out im so tired, so there will be more soon. i promise.

well, the bad news just keeps on coming. yesterday at around 5 pm, an undergradute business major jumped to his death from the 9th floor of anderson hall. our prayers are with his friends and family.
on a lighter note, i think kasey kasum and i are heading to chris's for her belated birthday celebration. the rick margitza/john swana quintet is playing tonight, so that should be fun.
ok, and id just like to say that my ih teacher is a complete and utter moron. not only did she give us john locke to read in 2 class periods, but she also gave me a b on my midterm! what a stupid bitch! arg...
i went into center city after classes today to pick up some music and some stuff at rite aide. nothing too interesting there except for some anti-war protests and whatnot.
well, i think im gonna go get some din din. i still have a good 15 points left for today (wes, sarah- im totally doing it) :)

wow, its been forever since ive written in this thing.
i think what people need to do now is shut up and support our troops. not all for george w or for the war on iraq? tough shit. deal with it. but for the love of God, support the men and women fighting out there. ok, im done.
so my parents and my sister are actually coming to see a concert of mine! theyre coming to the kimmel center concert on april 6th... were playing Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, Dvorak's Te Deum, and Shostakovich 5! yay! so for all yall reading this (if people actuall DO read it) come to the concert!
